The free demo above is Book of Ra Deluxe
Deluxe is the ten-line follow-up to the original: five reels, the same Book and the same Free Games with an expanding symbol, which makes it the closest free way to learn how Book of Ra plays.
Using the Book of Ra Deluxe demo#
Press the demo button and the game loads straight from Novomatic’s online studio. Before the reels appear, the provider asks you to confirm that you are 18 or older; after that you spin with fun credits. What you see is Book of Ra Deluxe: five reels and 10 paylines.
The rules you practise here carry over. The Book stands in for every other symbol, and three or more Books anywhere on the reels start 10 Free Games with a symbol chosen at random to expand. Deluxe sits at 5 on Novomatic’s volatility scale and plays in desktop and mobile browsers, so the same session works on a phone. Everything about this version, from its symbols to its screenshots, lives on the Book of Ra Deluxe slot page, and the demo also runs on the demo page and the Book of Ra free play page.
Book of Ra Classic: the 2005 original#
Novomatic launched Book of Ra in 2005, when its land-based product line The Winner arrived with the game among its first titles. Online, it reaches casinos through Greentube, the NOVOMATIC Digital Gaming and Entertainment division, which joined the group in 2010.
The setting is a tomb-raiding adventure. An explorer searches the pyramids for a golden book, and the reels carry him, a mummy, a statue, a scarab and the card royals from Ace down to 10. The Book is the symbol that matters most: it is the wild, the scatter and the key to the bonus round all at once. That single idea is why the game still feels familiar to anyone who has played one of its sequels.
Book of Ra versions at a glance#
Novomatic has built a whole series on the original, and four versions have their own pages on this site. Each one keeps its own figures, so the numbers below belong only to the version they sit next to.
- Book of Ra Classic: 5 reels, 9 lines, one Special Expanding Symbol in the Free Games. You are on its page.
- Book of Ra Deluxe: 5 reels and 10 lines, the version in the free demo above.
- Book of Ra Deluxe 6: 6 reels and 10 lines, with an Extra Bet option that switches the sixth reel on or off.
- Book of Ra Magic: 5 reels and 10 lines, where each retrigger adds another expanding symbol, up to nine in one round.
Deluxe 10, the Win Ways editions and the other titles that carry the Book of Ra name are lined up on the Book of Ra versions page.
RTP and volatility in plain numbers#
Novomatic ships Classic in seven return configurations, from 88.21% up to 96.99%, and the casino chooses which one its lobby runs. Before you settle on a table, open the game’s paytable or help screen and look for the return it lists. Two lobbies can offer the same reels with a different long-run return.
The rest of the maths describes the rhythm of a session. With all 9 lines in play, about 30% of spins land a win of some size. The Free Games arrive on average once every 150 to 200 games, and Novomatic rates the game 5 on its volatility scale, the top of the range. In practice that means long runs of small returns, broken now and then by a bonus round that can change the whole session. The Book of Ra RTP page sets out every configuration and the max win side by side.
Why the Free Games carry the game#
In the base game the ceiling is clear: five Explorers on one line pay 5,000 times the line bet. The Free Games raise it. Before the round starts, one symbol is chosen to be the Special Expanding Symbol, and whenever it lands during the 10 games it fills all three positions on its reel. It then pays on every selected line, on adjacent and separated reels alike.
Picture the Explorer as that symbol, covering all five reels with nine lines in play: 5,000x on each of the nine lines makes 45,000 times the line bet, the top prize for a single Free Game. A lower symbol works the same way on a smaller scale, and Books landing during the round can retrigger the feature. The Book of Ra bonus page goes through every symbol and the full paytable.
Playing Book of Ra for real#
The play buttons on this site open a partner casino where Book of Ra runs with real stakes. A welcome bonus is credited automatically after you register and make your first deposit there, under that casino’s terms. The Book of Ra casino page walks through what to check before you make that deposit, from the RTP configuration to the line bet.
On a phone the game opens in the browser through the same button: see Play Book of Ra on your phone for the mobile route. If you want a second opinion before staking, the Book of Ra review weighs the game as a whole, and the Book of Ra tips page covers line choice, bet size and session length.
